Biography
Marcel Maroist's lifelong dedication to physical activity and health began at the age of 12 when he started practicing martial arts. Today, he holds the prestigious rank of 8th degree Taekwondo black belt Grandmaster, a testament to his mastery in the discipline. As a world-class athlete, Marcel represented Canada from 1983 to 1989 and left an indelible mark on the international stage, competing in numerous global events, including three world championships. His impressive tally includes 8 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals across both individual and team categories.
Following his prolific athletic career, he was offered the prestigious position of coach for both the Canadian men's and women's teams, guiding them to impressive victories in 1989 at the Pan-Am Games in Honduras and at the Pyongyang Youth Festival in North Korea.
In 1982, Marcel opened his first martial arts school, marking the beginning of a journey that would see him establish over 15 schools worldwide.
One of his latest ventures is the Rosemère Taekwondo Club, inaugurated in February 2022 alongside his daughter Katy-Ann, herself now a 2nd Taekwondo black belt holder.
Beyond coaching elite athletes, Marcel dedicated a decade to training the Tactical Intervention Team (SWAT) of the Sûreté du Québec, imparting critical skills in crisis management and criminal control.
Marcel's multifaceted career extended beyond the dojang. His expertise and charisma led him to write, produce and host over 210 television shows and 6 training DVDs from 1987 to 2003, all centered around martial arts and fitness.
In 2010, a serendipitous encounter with researchers from the Department of Kinesiology at UQAM sparked Marcel's interest in health and sports research. This collaboration introduced him to groundbreaking patented technology for targeted fat loss through exercise and electrical stimulation. Motivated by this innovation, Marcel founded FITTnLEAN Inc. and secured global commercialization rights for the technology after successful clinical trials affirmed its efficacy.
Following the validation of the technology, Marcel sought new horizons, selling his stake in FITTnLEAN Inc. to embark on his latest endeavor: the development and future commercialization of OSTAAT™ technology.
Marcel Maroist continues to innovate at the intersection of health, fitness, and technology, driven by a passion for advancing human performance and wellness worldwide
